SRL - Initial Works and Early Works (IWEW) package

The Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) East, connecting Cheltenham and Box Hill, is a transformative project for Melbourne's public transport system. By delivering cross-suburb transport to key destinations, it will provide significant social and economic benefits to local communities. SRL East comprises twin 26km rail tunnels, six new underground stations at Cheltenham, Clayton (a major interchange), Monash, Glen Waverley, Burwood, and Box Hill, as well as a stabling yard at Heatherton.

The Initial Works and Early Works (IWEW) package focuses on relocating and protecting utilities, site establishment, road and tram modifications, ground improvement trials, constructing two Tunnel Access Shafts (TAS), and building a Traffic and Utilities bridge.

In partnership with our Joint Venture partner Carey Civil Contractors, we managed, planned, and self-performed the following site establishment works:

Services Provided

  • Supply and installation of barriers, fencing, and hoarding for road closures and staged works delivery
  • Day and night shift road occupation works
  • Tree clearing, grubbing, and flora and fauna management
  • Demolition and bulk site excavation
  • Drainage, subsoil, and kerb works
  • Temporary and permanent pavement construction
