FSC has been engaged to design and document the rebuild of the historic Dromana Pier. Originally built in the 1950’s, the current pier has come to the end of its design life and requires entire replacement. Through a community consultation process, a number of concepts were prepared by Cardno in 2020 and FSC has been engaged to revisit these concepts to develop and refine all the way through to the construction phase of the project.
In partnership with architectural firm Aspect Studios and a consortium of specialist consultants, FSC is ensuring that the new pier design addresses place, identity, context, ecology, history, sustainability, and accessibility, while also meeting functional maritime, construction, and maintenance requirements. The multidisciplinary team works collaboratively at each stage to ensure the design aligns with the project budget, incorporates best-practice methodologies, and is sensitive to the surrounding ecological and cultural environment. Construction of the new pier is scheduled to begin in 2025.
